The Art of Storytelling
Suzanne M. Stone Path to Literary Success

Amid world events that challenged everyone, particularly the performing arts due to its higher risk of virus transmission, Suzanne M. Stone faced a personal and professional trial when she lost her voice for nearly a year. Confronted with the possibility that traditional vocal instruction might be permanently changed, she channeled her resilience and creativity into developing a series of workbooks tailored for her students. These workbooks were designed not only to bridge the physical gap imposed by social distancing but also to serve as a comprehensive guide for students when their teacher is not around. By reinforcing foundational vocal skills, these resources ensured that the act of singing could be reimagined and continued effectively, even in the absence of direct instruction.
Suzanne M. Stone, originally from Pocatello, Idaho, has been making her musical mark in Las Vegas, Nevada, since 1989. As a passionate voice educator and vocal athlete, Suzanne’s journey in music and education is deeply layered, anchored by bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Vocal Performance and a commitment to Contemporary Vocal Pedagogy, Vocology, and Body Mapping Education for musicians. Her teaching is rooted in evidence-based disciplines, enabling her students to understand the mind-body connection in performance, thereby enhancing their expressiveness and technical abilities.
Suzanne’s musical skills extend beyond her vocal talents to include the piano, organ, flute, choral conducting, production musical director, and acting coaching, enriches her teaching with a broad perspective. This versatility allows her to instill in her students a deep appreciation for instrumentalists and production crews, emphasizing their essential role alongside vocal athletes. Her passion for exploring world cultures, cuisines, and family genealogy further enriches her teaching philosophy, highlighting the interconnectedness of our stories and reinforcing her belief in music as a universal language that bridges cultures and fosters empathy.

Suzanne’s personal narrative is beautifully complemented by her family’s experience of hosting three exchange students from Brazil and Japan in the late 1990s, who have since become beloved members of her family. This experience deepened her appreciation for cultural exchange and reinforced her commitment to music as a bridge between cultures. Her extensive travels across the United States and around the globe have endowed her with a global perspective, which she skillfully weaves into her teaching, offering her students a rich tapestry of cultural insights.
More than just a music teacher, Suzanne is a mentor and a builder of cultural bridges. She inspires her students to recognize their interconnectedness and to share their unique voices with the world. Her journey is a testament to the transformative power of music, filled with motivation, warmth, and an understanding of the human spirit. Suzanne’s life’s work exemplifies how music can break down cultural barriers, fostering a deeper appreciation for our shared human experience.
